Ep 94: How to Get Instagram Followers that Actually Buy

1 Reel. 2 New Followers that turned into paying members in 7 days.

If the idea of creating more Instagram content makes you want to scream into a pillow… same.

You don’t need to post more.
You need to post smarter—so the content you do create actually brings in followers who buy.

Not cheerleaders.
Not your mom’s coworkers.
Not people who think your posts are “cute.”
Buyers.

In this post, I’m breaking down the exact mindset shift and strategy I use (and teach my clients) to stop posting for the algorithm and start creating content that leads to real sales. Even if you're only posting during the literal mom cracks of your day.

Why Posting More Doesn’t Lead to More Sales

Let’s just be real. Most of us are juggling way too much already.

Homeschooling. Errands. Dishes. The lawn. Doctor appointments.
You're already working your tail off, and yet there’s still this looming pressure to show up on Instagram more.

Spoiler: posting more isn’t the solution.

If you’re showing up exhausted and burnt out, hitting publish just to check it off your to-do list, and still wondering why nothing’s working—you’re not alone. I’ve been there. I am there most days.

That feeling of doing all the things, and still falling behind? It’s real.
And when it comes to Instagram, that feeling hits hardest when the content you poured time into gets… nothing. Crickets. Or worse—likes from your mom, your neighbor, and Karen from Zumba.

It’s not that you’re doing it wrong.
It’s that you’re attracting the wrong people.

The Real Reason Your Instagram Content Isn’t Converting

Here’s the thing: no one buys from a single post.

The goal isn’t just to post something and hope for a sale. The goal is to guide your audience through what I call the buyer journey:

  1. Growth – Attract the right followers

  2. Engagement – Get them interacting

  3. Connection – Make them feel seen

  4. Trust – Show them you’re the one who can help

  5. Sales – Offer the solution they’re ready for

And if you’re attracting the wrong people at the top of that journey—nothing that comes after will work. You won’t get engagement. You won’t build trust. You won’t get the sale.

That’s why step one matters so freaking much.

So How Do You Attract the Right Followers?

Not just more followers. Not random people who stumble on a Reel and never look at your profile again.

I’m talking aligned followers.
The ones who land on your post and instantly feel like, “Oh—this is for me.”

The secret?
I use a feature most people aren’t paying enough attention to: Trial Reels.

What Are Trial Reels and Why Do They Work?

Trial Reels are a newer Instagram feature designed to test your content with people outside your current audience. Think of it like Instagram saying, “Hey, let’s show this to some new people who might be into it.”

But here’s what matters most: Instagram bases this on your existing audienceunless you tell it otherwise.

That’s where long-tail keywords come in.

If your current audience isn’t full of buyers yet, you can still train Instagram to show your Trial Reels to the right people—by loading up your caption with the specific words your dream clients are searching for.

And I’m not talking about generic terms like “small business tips.”

I mean specific, relatable phrases like:

  • “How do I plan meals when I don’t have time to cook?”

  • “I’m tired of guessing what to post on Instagram”

  • “Easy ways to get clients without launching”

Instagram uses those keywords to connect the dots. And when you use Trial Reels with clear, specific messaging? You’ll get followers who are already in the mindset to eventually buy.

Proof That Trial Reels Attract Better Followers

Every time I post a Trial Reel using this approach, I consistently get 1 to 4 new followers. And here’s the wild part—at least one of them usually ends up buying from me within a week.

No fancy editing. No trending audios.
Most of my Reels don’t even break 1,000 views.
And yet—they convert.

Because I’m not creating content for the masses. I’m creating content for the person who needs exactly what I offer.

And when you do that? The right people find you.
Not because you gamed the algorithm… but because you actually connected with someone in a way that mattered.

What Makes a Trial Reel Work

If you’re ready to try Trial Reels, here’s what to focus on:

  • A hook that speaks directly to your ideal client

  • Specific pain points or goals they’re already thinking about

  • Language that sounds like something they’d say out loud

  • Long-tail keywords to guide Instagram’s targeting

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You don’t need to be on camera every day. You just need a plan that helps you work smarter.

I batch content when I’m already dressed and feeling cute.
I reuse the same clips in multiple ways.
I intentionally create fewer posts that do more work.

Because we don’t have time to post just for funsies.
We’re here to build something that lasts—and make it sustainable.

Start Where Sales Actually Begin

If you’re over wasting time on content that gets likes but no sales, this is your next step.

The Trial Reels Guide + Formulas is $17 and shows you exactly how to post in a way that brings in the right followers- the kind who actually buy.

It’s what I use when I want my content to do the heavy lifting for me. And if you’re posting during nap time or snack breaks, that kind of strategy matters.

Because Instagram should work for you- not the other way around.
