Ep 99: Why Instagram Feels Off Lately (And What I’m Doing Instead for Sustainable Sales)
If Instagram has felt like a full-time job lately, you're not imagining things. The algorithm keeps changing. The trends feel louder than ever. And for many mompreneurs, it’s starting to feel less like a growth tool and more like an energy drain.
If that’s you? You’re not alone. And you’re definitely not doing it wrong.
In this post, I’m breaking down why I’m shifting my Instagram strategy, what’s actually working right now in online marketing, and how you can build a business that fits your real life (instead of bending your life to fit the platform).
The Instagram Landscape Has Changed
Instagram is no longer the all-in-one sales machine it used to be. These days, unless you’re spending hours a day in your DMs and Stories, it’s hard to maintain traction.
What used to work (reels, quick hooks, daily posting) just doesn’t hit the same anymore. And yet, so much of the advice being given is still pushing outdated strategies.
Here’s the truth: Instagram is more top-of-funnel now than direct sales. That means it can help you get seen and start conversations, but it shouldn't be your only tool for generating revenue.
Buyer Behavior Has Shifted Too
People are taking longer to decide. They’re asking more questions. They're more skeptical of high-pressure tactics and viral promises (rightfully so!).
Trust, connection, and clarity matter more than ever. One viral reel isn’t going to convert someone into a client anymore. It takes a cohesive journey across multiple platforms—and that journey has to feel good for you too.
Trends Aren't Strategy
Let’s talk about trend fatigue.
One minute it’s all about group programs. Then it’s VIP days. Now it’s paid newsletters or private podcasts. And the same goes for content: everyone using the same audio, templates, and viral-style captions.
But chasing every trend keeps you stuck in reaction mode—not growth mode.
True growth comes from having a message that connects and a strategy that works with your capacity, your energy, and your offers.
Why I'm Restructuring My Business
I homeschool my kids. We have multiple weekly appointments. My work time and energy are limited. And I realized I had built a business that required me to operate like I had unlimited time.
Spoiler alert: I don’t.
So I’m restructuring. Not just to protect my energy, but to build a business that supports my real life—not one that competes with it.
That means:
Less reactive content
More intentional strategy
Focusing on depth, not just visibility
I’m not leaving Instagram. I’m just done with the grind.
What Instagram Still Does Well (And What It Doesn't)
Instagram is still a powerful platform. It’s great for visibility. It’s great for connection. It’s a perfect place to start conversations and grow awareness.
But it can’t carry your entire marketing strategy on its back. Especially not when you have limited time and capacity.
If you want sustainable sales, you need an intentional strategy that integrates your Instagram with other platforms like email, podcasting, or a blog. (Just like this one.)
Messaging Is the Real Missing Piece
One of the biggest gaps I see right now is messaging.
So many mompreneurs are buying templates, following viral trends, and still not seeing results. Because no matter how catchy your hook is, if your message doesn’t resonate—it won’t convert.
To get off the content hamster wheel, you need messaging that:
Speaks to your specific audience
Reflects your unique voice
Connects with where your people are in their decision-making journey
This is the part most content strategies skip. But it’s the part that makes the difference between spinning your wheels and making consistent sales.
Final Thoughts: A Life-First Strategy
You don’t have to post more to get more clients. You don’t have to chase every trend to stay relevant. You don’t have to show up on every platform every day.
You just need a clear message, a strategy that fits your life, and content that builds real connection.
This is exactly what I’m focused on moving forward—and what I’ll be helping my clients and members with too.
If Instagram’s been feeling off for you lately, it’s not a sign that you’re failing. It’s a sign that it might be time for something more strategic.
